The latest in our series of ‘Sunday School’ assignments challenged our talented photography students to interpret the concept of Simplicity, and boy, did we get a brilliant response!

Tapping into the range of emotions we're all experiencing during the current pandemic, we were flooded with entries displaying technical and aesthetic originality of a very high standard that made judging anything but simple.

Congratulations, and a $50 SoL gift certificate go to Monika S. for her winning entry which we found both beautiful and unsettling.

Interior Motive

Amazon's critically acclaimed detective series Bosch returned to screens in the US in April for its sixth season. Based on the bestselling books by Michael Connelly, the show has been rightly praised for the authenticity of its LA-based settings and Andrew Hall was proud to supply two large pieces for several scenes set in a modernist Los Angeles interior.

Produced to order, the photographs compliment the meticulous upscale sets perfectly, adding to the sense of tasteful luxury demanded from this part of the story.

The School of Light was proud to be involved in the recent Hulu series 'Little Fires Everywhere'.

To ensure maximum authenticity, the producers commissioned SoL courses director Andrew Hall to instruct lead actor Kerry Washington and coach her in the fine art of film photography for her role as Mia Warren, and consult on the construction of the movie's darkroom set.

This powerful adaptation of Celeste Ng's bestselling novel, set in the 1980's puts Mia's expressive film photography at the heart of the story.
