SoL high / Camerability

The School of Light offers a fun and exciting range of photography classes, workshops and tutorials for students from 6th to 12th grade at our state of the art studio and darkroom in the resurgent heart of downtown Los Angeles.

Individual, and insightful instruction from British photographer Andrew Hall enables students to build their skills, learn new techniques and express themselves visually in a variety of formats, from one on one study to small workshop groups.

Camerability

Getting the best from your Digital Camera

Today’s digital cameras are full of great features that help you take better photographs and also weighed down with gadgets and gizmos that you’ll never need.

“Camerability” is a 4–week class for high school students that will give students a grasp of the best functions on their cameras, and how to use them to take better photographs.

One on one instruction in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere helps students to de-mystify the often bewildering technology of modern cameras, so that they can concentrate on the key principles that make for creative photographs in any situation.

Topics we will cover include composition, exposure, and focus and include tips on photographing people, street scenes, landscapes, Photoshop basics and special effects.

By the end of the course students will feel more confident as photographers and work in harmony with their camera to elevate their vision.

Students need to bring their own digital SLR camera.
